Understanding VRM in Modern Hardware
A Voltage Regulator Module, commonly known as VRM, is one of the most important components on a motherboard. It ensures that your CPU and GPU receive clean, stable, and precise power. Although it often goes unnoticed, the VRM plays a major role in system performance, heat control, and long-term hardware reliability.
How VRM Works
The primary job of the VRM is to convert power from the power supply into the correct voltage level required by the processor. Since CPUs and GPUs operate at very low voltages, the VRM steps down the higher voltage coming from the PSU to a safe level. This conversion must be extremely accurate because even small fluctuations can affect stability, cause overheating, or lead to reduced performance during demanding tasks.
